Designed by Wuon-Gean Ho, the reverse of the coin features a terrier, a much-loved breed of a dog. The portrait of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, is depicted on the obverse of the coin. The Queen faces the right side of the coin wearing the crown she wore for her coronation in 1953. Below the Queen’s effigy are the initials of Jody Clark, the designer of the obverse side of the coin- “J.C”. Surrounding the effigy is the inscription “ELIZABETH II • D • G • REG • F • D • 100 POUNDS•” from the top-right side of the coin clockwise. “D • G • REG • F • D” stands for ‘Dei Gratia Regina Fidei Defensor’, which translates to: By the Grace of God, Queen, Defender of Faith.
The coin was minted by the Royal Mint. It is wholly owned by Her Majesty’s Treasury and is under an exclusive contract to supply all the nation’s coinage. Being a legal tender, both collectors and investors can buy British Gold Year Of The Dog Coin Online exempt from sales tax or VAT.
