The pillars are surrounded by a ribbon with the motto “PLUS ULTRA” written: “PLUS” on the part of the ribbon on the left pillar while “ULTA” on the part on the right pillar. The text “REINA DE” is inscribed from the bottom-left to the top right and “LAS ESPANAS” from the top-right to the bottom-right. “UN ESCUDO” is engraved at the bottom of the coin. Two madrids (six-pointed stars) are at the right and left of “UN ESCUDO”.
