The Swedish Gold Kroner coin is a product of Swedish Mint struck from 90% gold purity. The coin was issued between 1873 and 1901. The coin is a legal tender in Sweden and a bullion coin sought after by both coin collectors and investors. The coin has a rich history in Sweden struck to commemorate Oskar II who was the King of Sweden between 1873 and 1901.

The Swedish Gold Kroner occurs in denominations of 10 and 20 Kroners. The 10 Kroner coin weighs 4.4803g with a width of 18mm. The 20 Kroner coin on the other side spans 22.5mm in width with a weight of 8.96g. Both coins boast of a 90% gold purity, which contributes to its high demand.. The price is arrived at after looking at various premiums that comes with the coins, which is dependent on the historical and gold value of the coin. The coin is a great investment for many investors who will benefit from the ever-rising price levels.

The obverse of Swedish Gold Kroner features a right facing portrait of Oskar II. Above the image the inscription “OSCAR II SVERIGES OCH NORGES KONUNG” appears. This inscription is translated as Oscar II-Sweden and Norway’s King. The year when the coin was struck also appears on the obverse side. The reverse side features Swedish Royal Coat of Arms. Above this, the King’s motto “BRODRAFOLKENS VAL” can be seen, which means “The Welfare of the Brother People’s”. The initials E.B appears towards the right of the reverse side, which stands for Emil Brusewitz, the engraver of the coin. The face value of the coin also appears on this side.

The Swedish Mint was granted a monopoly on issuing banknotes and coins in kronor in 1904. The Mint was closed down in 2011 and all coin minting was moved to Finland. Investors and collectors of bullion coins fancy the Sweden Gold Kroner because of its aesthetics, heritage and value attached to the coin. Moreover, they can take advantage of trading in this coin without being charged sales tax of VAT since the Sweden Gold Kroner coins are, essentially, legal tender.
