The Switzerland Gold Unze coins are part of a series of Unze coins that were released from 1986. They come in bullion form and are uncirculated. The coins are largely commemorative of different aspects of the Swiss heritage including natural features and traditions.

The Switzerland Gold Unze is available in denominations of a tenth, quarter, half and one troy ounces of gold. The gross weights of these coins are 3.111 grams, 3.7340 grams, 7.777 grams, and 15,525 grams respectively. Their respective diameters are 18.00 millimeters, 22.00 millimeters, 24.00 millimeters, and 31.00 millimeters. All the different denominations of the Switzerland Gold Unze have a remarkable gold fineness of .9999.

The obverse features of the various denominational coins of the Switzerland Gold Unze have several commonalities. First, they all have the image of the Helvetia in personified form taking up about 75 percent of the obverse are. She is seated and facing towards the left side of the coin and leans on the Swiss shield with her left hand as her right is clasping on a sword. A chopped tree trunk with a branch is behind her and right next to the Swiss shield. The Helvetia is surrounded by 23 stars on the upper half of the coin towards the rimmed edge. In the background, you will notice the Matterhorn. The inscription, “HELVETIA” is below the image of the personified Helvetia.

The reverse of the Switzerland Gold Unze coins is similar for all denominations in each year of mint. This depends on what the is being commemorated that year. For example, the 1986 version of coins were issued in commemoration of the Eternal Pact. Thus, all the denominations depict three men of different ages who are standing in celebratory mood in front of a mountain lake holding their left hands and lifting their right hands up. The gold weight in t/oz, gold fineness, mint stamp of Argor-Heraeus and the date appear below in different font sizes.
