The Royal Canadian Mint established on January 2, 1908 minted the first Canadian Gold Arctic Fox coin representing the arctic fox in line with its Call of the Wild coinage series. The arctic fox is synonymously called the white fox and its botanical name is Vulpes Lagopus. It is the smallest in the family of Canadian canid. Wildlife enthusiasts, collectors and investors find the Canadian Gold Arctic Fox coin appealing and of premium quality.

Two versions of the Canadian Gold Arctic Fox coin are available. The debut version was the 10-dollar 2014 coin. The coin measures 20mm in diameter and 4.5mm in thickness. It has a gold content of 0.25 t/oz at 0.9999 fineness. The obverse bears Queen Elizabeth II’s 2003 effigy, which was designed by Susanna Blunt, facing to the right. The inscriptions, “ELIZABETH II” and, “10 DOLLARS 2014” appear above and below the effigy respectively. The reverse features the work of Maurice Gervais of Canada. It shows the full view of the arctic fox standing on a flat, tree-lined, snow-covered valley facing to the left and head turned to the left. The gold purity inscription, “.9999” is right below the fox while the texts, “CANADA” and “FINE GOLD ¼ OZ OR PUR” are above and below the fox.

The 2016 version has a face value of 25 cents, a weight of 0.5g, and a diameter of 11mm. It has a gold purity of 0.9999. The effigy on the obverse is similar to that of the 2014 10-dollar version, but the 2016 25-cent version has the inscriptions, “ELIZABETH II” and, “D · G · REGINA” on the left and right of the effigy respectively. The reverse contains the work of Pierre Leduc, which features the head of the arctic fox from the neckline facing right occupying over three-quarters of the reverse. The text, “PL” appears below the fox’s chin while, “CANADA 2016 25 CENTS” runs clockwise at the top.

The 2014 and 2016 versions of the Canadian Gold Arctic Fox coin had mintages of 2000 and 6500 respectively. No sales tax or VAT is charged on trading in either.
