1 ounce Mexican Silver Libertad is the one which is commonly used. It has a diameter of 40 millimeters and a thickness of 3.4 millimeters. It has a silver purity of 99.9%. The obverse of the coin has a simple design featuring the Mexican coat of arms. Mexican culture is quite obvious with each section of the side. The coat of arms includes 11 total images; the current coat of arms is centered in the middle while the other ten historical coats of arms surround it along the circular edge. Above the coat of arms, the text “ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS”; runs in a clockwise direction. An eagle devouring a rattlesnake is depicted at the center. The eagle faces the left side with its wings open while perched on a cactus. Two nopals are engraved below the eagle. They cross each other at the base, one from the left side; the other from the right side, and are tied with a ribbon.

The reverse of the Mexico Silver Libertad coin portrays the effigy of the Winged Victoria of Mexican Independence Victory Column. Identifiable with the side are two volcanoes; Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuati sharing the same design. Vegetation is also evident at the base of the volcanoes. The weight of the coin “1 ONZA” is inscribed on the left side of the coin below the left wing of the Winged Victoria, in a clockwise direction. “PLATA PURA” is engraved at the top of the coin between the wings.  Below the right wing, the inscription “2014 LEY .999” for the 2014 coin, runs in a clockwise direction.

La Casa de Moneda de Mexico, established in 1535, minted the silver libertad. Traders of the coin can buy Mexico Silver Libertad coins online exempt from sales tax or VAT and a Gold Mexican Libertad coin is also available from the same mint.
