The Mexico Gold Libertad is one of the most unique coins in the world of gold coins. It was introduced in 1981 and its uniqueness originates from lack of face value being stamped on it yet it is accepted as currency. The Mexico Gold Libertad was minted in various denominations, which are; 1oz, ½ oz, ¼ oz, 1/10 oz, and 1/20 oz struck from a gold fineness 99.99%. The 1oz ½ oz and ¼ oz spans 34.5mm, 29mm, and 23mm in width with a weight of 31.105g, 15.55g, and 7.78g respectively. The 1/10oz and 1/20oz weighs 3.16g and 1.56g respectively with a width of 16mm and 13mm in that order. These Mexican Mint Gold Coins have an unstable value as currency based on Price of Gold, as quoted by Banco de Mexico. However, just as other bullion coins, their actual value is determined by the present spot price of Gold and the premium associated with it.

The center of the obverse of the Mexico Gold Libertad depicts the National Coat of Arms of Mexico. The coat of arms depicts a Mexican Golden Eagle perched on a cactus holding a snake by its beak. Surrounding the coat of arms is the inscription “ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS” which is the official name of Mexico in Spanish. Ten other Coat of Arms encircles the eagle situated at the center of the obverse side. The reverse side features a winged Victoria of Mexican Independence in front of a landscape with volcanoes. The weight of the coin is also indicated on the reverse along with the year of mintage and its purity.

Mexican Mint was established in 1535 by the Spanish crown. The Spanish introduced it so that they would cut down costs on striking circulating currency using the precious metals they minted from their colony. Trading in Mexico Gold Libertad Coin does not attract sales tax or VAT.
