The currency sign, zł, is composed of the Polish lowercase letters z and ł  (Latin small letter L with a stroke. As a result of inflation in the early 1990s, the currency underwent re-domination. Thus, on 1st January 1995, 10000 old zloytch (PLZ) became one new zloty (PLN). Since then, the currency has been relatively stable, with an exchange rate fluctuating between 3 and 4 zloty for a United States dollar.

For the 10 Złotych minted between 1932 and 1933, it has a diameter of 34 millimeters and a thickness of 3 millimeters. With its milled edge, it has a gross weight of 22 grams with a silver purity of .750. The obverse of the coin contains the Polish national coat of arms. It consists of a crowned eagle with its wings and legs outstretched. The eagle faces the left side of the coin in a pose known in heraldry as ‘displayed’. The rim of the coin has texts “RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA” from the mid-left side to the mid-right side of the coin. The year of mintage is engraved at the bottom of the coat of arms. The text “10 ZŁOTYCH 10 “  is engraved at the bottom of the coin from the bottom-left to the bottom-right side of the coin in a counterclockwise manner.

The artist, designing an idealized image of the Polish community on the reverse which was inspired by Janina Żółtowska’s facial features. For him, she represented perfect beauty. She reminded him of Queen Jadwiga, symbolically. Many people erroneously attribute this image to the Polish Queen. The image features the radiant head of a woman, turned to the left, which is surrounded by ears of grain.

The Polish Mint, a private company located in Warsaw coined the zlotych. It is the only body permitted to manufacture investment products and coins in Poland.
