All the denominations of the Australian Gold Koala coin have a gold purity of 99.99%. The coins’ intrinsic values are worth more than their face values. Each coin is considered legal tender under the Australian Currency Act of 1965 and contains a portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of England on its obverse. The portrait is the work of Ian Rank-Broadley.
The Australian Gold Koala coin has a distinctive appearance with the obverse and reverse side of the coin having different features. The obverse side is characterized by a profile of Queen Elizabeth II and the monetary denomination. The reverse side is characterized by a Koala situated at the center, year of mintage and an inscription “AUSTRALIAN KOALA”

The Perth Mint houses each coin in a custom luxury presentation case with a jarrah timber lid. They are then shipped with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity in an illustrated shipper.
