The obverse, designed by Susanna Blunt, displays the profile of Queen Elizabeth II. She faces the left side of the coin with curly hair at the edges and a beaded necklace around her neck. The name “ELIZABETH II” is inscribed at the top of the coin, curving from the top-left to the top-right of the coin. the face value and the year of minting of the coin are inscribed at the bottom of the coin; from bottom-left to bottom-right. For example; “5 DOLLARS 2011”. The initials Susanna Blunt, “SB”, are inscribed on the right shoulder of the Queen.
The reverse side of the 2011 Silver Grizzly Bear pictures a roaring grizzly bear, standing at the edge of a lake on its four limbs. Mountain peaks can be seen at the rear side of the bear. The bear faces onto the right direction. The name “CANADA” is inscribed at the top of the coin curving from the top-left to the top-right side of the coin. At the mid-right section of the reverse side, the silver purity is embossed. The initials of the designer of the reverse, William Woodruff, “WW” are on the mid-left section. The inscriptions “FINE SILVER 1 OZ ARGENT PUR” are engraved at the bottom of the coin; from the bottom-left side to the bottom right side of the coin, counterclockwise.
