The Australian Silver Year of the Rabbit is one of the coins among the Australian Lunar Silver Coin series.  It is the fourth of the twelve animals associated with the ancient Chinese Lunar calendar. The coin was produced in 2011. In Chinese culture, people born in the Year of the Rabbit-1927,1939,1951,1963,1975,1987,1999 and 2011-are regarded as intelligent, articulate, compassionate and loyal. The coin comes in four sizes- ½ oz, 1 oz, 2 oz and 1 kilogram.

The size of the coin is the 1 t/oz. The maximum diameter of the coin is 45.60 and the maximum thickness is 2.60 millimeters. With its serrated edge, the coin has a silver purity of 99.99% and an aggregate weight of 31.135 grams. The obverse of the coin depicts the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II wearing the crown she wore for her coronation. She faces the right profile of the coin. The name “ELIZABETH II” in engraved from the mid-left side to the top-left of the coin. “AUSTRALIA” is engraved on the right side of the coin from the top-right to the mid-right section of the coin. The size of the coin, silver purity, year of coinage and monetary denomination of the coin, “1 OZ 999 SILVER 2011 1 DOLLAR”, are inscribed from the mid-left side to the mid-right side of the coin, counterclockwise.

The reverse of the Silver Rabbit coin depicts two rabbits, one on the left of the coin which is bigger than the one on the right, nestling under foliage and are surrounded by a tree with creepers entwined on its branches. The Chinese character for rabbit, 兔, is debossed on the top-right of the coin. The inscriptions “YEAR OF THE RABBIT” are engraved at the bottom of the coin, from the bottom-left to the bottom-right. The mint mark, “P”, is on the top-left of the coin.
